Our chapter meets on the second Saturday of every month. The meeting begins with Mass at 8:30am, then we pray the rosary and say Morning Prayer in Community before holding the business and formation portion of the meeting in classroom 4 here at St. Thomas Aquinas.
As you have read on the About page, one of the central tenets of the Dominican life is the Apostolate. Robbie G., a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Pro-Chapter Council, explains our apostolate: "Our Chapter Apostolate is a multifaceted apostolate which comes under one heading: The Rosary Apostolate. If you will remember when we started this apostolate we were delighted at how the Rosary could encompass so many of our talents and the many ways, as individuals, we are called to serve our community. Some of us make Rosaries, some join us in the praying of the Rosary for the apostolate, some are moved to take active participation in Sanctity of Human Life causes, some are called to put the fruits of their contemplation into publication via Veritas, some teach the children of the Parish. The Apostolate is one; the fruits or manifestations of it are many and varied. No one part is of greater or lesser importance than any other part; we are all together under Our Lady through her most holy Rosary."
We have two different Rosary Apostolate groups that meet each week: the Evening Group meets on Tuesdays at 6:30pm in room 4, and the Afternoon Group meets Wednesdays at 3:45pm in room 2. During their meetings, one person reads from a spiritual work, be it a Papal Encyclical or a history of the Dominican Order, while everyone else knots rosaries from cord which will be sent to troops overseas.
